April Watkins RN, MSN, ACNS-BC
April Watkins is a board certified Adult Health Clinical Nurse Specialist with prescriptive authority. She received her bachelor’s degree from Indiana University in Bloomington and a master’s degree in nursing from The University of Texas at Austin. She is a member of the Heart Failure Society of America, Heart Rhythm Society and Austin Advanced Practice Nurses. She has worked as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Cardiac Electrophysiology and Interventional Cardiology. As a registered nurse, she worked on a specialty renal transplant unit at North Austin Medical Center.
April leads volunteer medical teams to Haiti to work in rural clinics and remote hospitals. Her professional interests are heart failure, heart rhythm disorders and cardiac device management. She also serves as a community preceptor for The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing.
