Dr. John Allison

My goal is to help every patient achieve safe and effective relief from cardiac arrhythmias using the most advanced methods and tools at our disposal.

As a native of Austin, Dr. Allison is excited to provide care for those in the community dealing with cardiac arrhythmias.

His interest in cardiology began while studying mechanical engineering at the University of Texas and using computer software to simulate the pumping heart. He pursued this interest and attended medical school at the University of Texas School of Medicine in San Antonio, and later completed his Internal Medicine residency and Cardiology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Here he found a passion for treating patients with cardiac arrhythmias, and subsequently completed his Cardiac Electrophysiology fellowship at Harvard Medical School’s Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He received awards and honors including being Chief Fellow of the Cardiac Arrhythmia Service.

He has authored and co-authored research papers and book chapters in the field of cardiology and arrhythmias, and has been invited to present his original research findings at national meetings.

Dr. Allison received comprehensive training in all aspects of Cardiac Electrophysiology, including prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of arrhythmias. His clinical interests are the use of advanced technologies for safe and effective cardiac ablation of atrial fibrillation, and both ventricular and supraventricular arrhythmias. He also focuses on pacemaker and defibrillator implantation and removal, as well as left atrial appendage closure.

Dr. Allison’s passion is the use of state-of-the-art methods for treatment of cardiac arrhythmias to help improve the lives of those in this beloved community.
